A Bit of Tars History
The Tars formed in 2003 to sing a shanty or two for the then newly established Tamar and Tavy Gig Club. From that event they continued to build their repertoire and have done monthly performances at their local pub, appearances at the Tavistock and Morwellham Folk Festivals, the Dartmouth Classic Boat Rally and Falmouth International Shanty Festival, as well as four musical shows in Bere Ferrers village. Their repertoire includes traditional shanties plus a variety of songs by Show of Hands, Stan Rogers, Gordon Lightfoot, Ewan McColl and others.

The Acoustic Nights take place in the evening of the third Sunday of every month and feature a wide range of local (and not so local!) musical talent.
